Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy Consultation GroupS

10-Month Consultation Group

Consult Group Dates:

Fridays | 1 PM – 2:30 PM (EST)

Many therapists find themselves working with clients whose substance use or compulsive behaviors feel difficult to engage—often leading to the sense: “I don’t treat addiction,” or “I’m not sure what to do here.”

Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP) offers a way forward—one that builds on what you already know while transforming how you understand and respond to these challenges.

I’m inviting you to join my next Monthly Online Consultation Group, beginning May 29th, for clinicians who want to deepen their work with addictive and compulsive behaviors through a dignity-centered, harm reduction approach.

IHRP integrates relational psychoanalysis, CBT, and mindfulness-based strategies within a harm reduction framework that meets people exactly where they are in their change process. It provides a flexible, humane model for working with addiction and mental health together—and offers a strong clinical container for all aspects of psychedelic-assisted therapy.

Now in its 11th year, this 10-month group offers a unique opportunity to:

  • Deepen your clinical confidence with complex, high-risk behaviors
  • Apply IHRP principles directly to your own cases
  • Explore the meanings and functions of substance use and compulsion
  • Work actively with countertransference as a central clinical tool
  • Receive thoughtful, collaborative feedback in a small, committed group

My core belief is that experienced therapists already possess the essential skills to do this work—what’s often missing is a framework that supports applying those skills in a way that centers dignity, reduces harm, and invites real change.

The group is limited to 10 participants to create an intimate, engaged learning environment. Members are encouraged to attend all sessions to support continuity and depth.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Andrew will lead an online 10-month, 90-minute Consultation Group for mental health and addiction treatment professionals who want to learn more about Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP) and how to incorporate it into their practices. The group will consist of didactics, case presentations, and a review of selected readings. Group members will also have an opportunity to share their current cases.  Participants are encouraged to commit to attending monthly meetings for all ten months to ensure the best training experience.

Andrew has worked with people who struggle with drugs and their families for over 40 years. Andrew developed Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP) for treating the spectrum of risky and addictive behavior. IHRP brings relational psychoanalysis, CBT, and mindfulness together in a harm reduction frame. IHRP meets people wherever they are on their positive change journeys and works collaboratively to support people in discovering their truth and what goals and approaches to positive change best suit them.
